Buddy then becomes discerning about his dad, and plots to obtain the man leading his father widely arrested, allowing his dad to start up a normal, risk-free job. However, this curriculum backfires and Buddys dad ends up with an 18 month conviction. The first way we feel sympathy for Buddy is at the beginning at the book after he fells guilty for stealing. We find Buddy feeling nuisanceed with himself after stealing a £5 note from his mothers purse for a schooltime trip. It is clear that he is disappointed with himself after we try the metaphor wave of disgust.
This may not be a big unloosen normally, but for Buddys family £5 is a lot due to pecuniary difficulties, hence why he feels so very loaded with himself. Later, his mother would compare him to his father, as Buddys dad was once in jail due to theft. As well as this, we feel sympathy for Buddy, just as he leaves the house for school; he calls goodbye, yet receives no reply. Instead, he hears another wrangling erupting between his parents.
